Introduction:
Nature-inspired stays are perfect for those of us who want to relax and unplug from our busy lives. They’re also great ways to save money at the same time. A lot of staycation options these days include places with beautiful amenities that can be admired without breaking your budget.
Nature is a truly magical experience; it's the perfect environment to recharge and relax. That's why some of my friends often associate nature with a staycation. If you're like me and enjoy nature as much as I do, then you've probably been searching for ways to include wildlife in your staycation this summer.
Visit a national park
National parks are ideal for nature-inspired staycations because they're usually free. Even if they're not, you can still enjoy the park's beauty and explore a little. Some national parks have visitor centers that offer more information and even merchandise, but most just have parking lots and restrooms.
The best part about visiting a national park is that you can go on hikes and see some amazing natural beauty without having to pay for it. If you want to get out of your car and stretch your legs, there are plenty of trails for you to take advantage of. You'll also get to see some amazing wildlife along the way!
Go glamping
If you're looking for a fun, nature-inspired staycation, try glamping. Glamping (or yurt camping) is exactly what it sounds like: an overnight getaway in a yurt. Typically, these are temporary structures that are built on a platform and come equipped with electricity, water, and toilets. You can rent them online or find one at a nearby campground or park.
Glamping is becoming increasingly popular as people look for unique ways to spend their time off from work. It's also a great way to spend time with your family or significant other without having to pack up the car and drive somewhere far away.
The first step in glamping is finding the perfect spot for your yurt. The best choice will be one that has lots of trees around it so you can enjoy nature without being too close to other people or buildings. You'll want to make sure there's plenty of room around your yurt so it doesn't feel cramped inside when you're sleeping in there with all your gear!
Hit the trails
The best things about nature are its ability to inspire, relax and recharge. And because you can't get too much of a good thing, we're going to help you find your next nature-inspired staycation — with a little help from these budget-friendly nature-inspired staycations.
If you love hiking, camping, and experiencing the great outdoors, then these places will be perfect for you. They're all relatively close to major cities, so it's easy to get there on public transportation or by car. Some of them have hiking trails and biking trails that lead right into town — so you can ditch your car after a long hike without having to worry about driving back home!
Attend a nature festival
Nature festivals are a great way to spend time in nature and experience how people around the world celebrate their love of the outdoors. They often take place at large parks or other scenic locations and feature demonstrations, workshops, food, music, and more. Some of the best festivals offer a variety of activities for children — from painting with watercolors to scavenger hunts — making them ideal for families on the go.
One of our favorite festivals is Earth Day Nature Festival in San Francisco, which offers family-friendly activities like making bird feeders and tree houses as well as hands-on workshops for children about plants, animals, and habitats. There's also plenty of live music throughout the day.
Go birding
There are numerous travel destinations that are home to birds, and some of them are even better for birding than others. Mexico is a great place to go bird-watching, especially if you're looking to see some of the most colorful birds on Earth.
Mexico's deserts are rich in biological diversity and include many species of birds that live in the Americas. Some of these species have been on Earth for millions of years and have evolved over time to adapt to their environment. Amazingly, many of these birds can be found in Mexico's desert regions despite being nocturnal or diurnal (active during the day or night).
The best way to find these birds is by going out into nature with your eyes open. Look up at the sky at night and see what you notice — there are bound to be some interesting creatures up there!
Conclusion:
Staycations don't have to be all about getting pampered—there's nothing wrong with a nature-oriented vacation, especially in these times when we're treated to so many urban amenities. Just remember not to count on going completely off the grid; you'll still want small creature comforts like the internet and running water even in the most luxurious glamping experience. And while you may experience a serious lack of cell service in deeper parts of the wilderness, make sure you have backup plans for contacting emergency services should the need arise.
One of the easiest ways to work more nature into your staycation is to extend it. National parks—and their surrounding towns—are always a good option for nature lovers, and they're also typically cheaper than more exotic options. The cost of entrance is usually a flat fee, so you can easily camp the afternoon away or spend the whole day at a national landmark.
